What's Up New and Aspiring Knife Makers?

Welcome to the beginning of your knife making journey! I'm here to help you get started and be successful. Hi, I'm Steve Reza, a "Knife Engineer." I love making stuff and learning new things. I've been making stock-removal knives since 2013. I created Knifemaker’s Mastery to equip new and aspiring knife makers with the information, the techniques, and the skills needed to build custom handmade knives. I strive to make your knifemaking journey successful, and most importantly, enjoyable!
The company was conceived in 2017 and founded in 2018 to help new knife makers learn proper techniques and an answer to the simple, yet, profound question: What don't I know? Believe me, quickly learning what you don't know versus having to figure that out on your own through trial and error, will save you a lot of time, money, and headache. Moreover, you will get to where you want to be in your knifemaking journey much more quickly than I did.

Why the name Knifemaker's Mastery?
I wanted a name that conveys the point that mastery is the ultimate goal of any student. However, mastery is a process and doesn’t happen overnight. Mastery occurs one step at a time, which is why I teach you to master each step BEFORE you go to the next...follow this simple concept and you will be blown away with your results!

My Academic and Professional Background

I spent over 20 years as a network systems engineer in the federal sector. During my career, I was federally-certified to develop and deliver technical courses for employees of the U.S. State Department and other government agencies. I mastered the skills of breaking down complex systems into small, easy-to-understand pieces, and successfully educated hundreds of federal employees on how to design, build, and troubleshoot large computer networks. Additionally, I developed an Internet-based learning platform which enabled me to provide both online and in-class instruction, saving the government a lot of money!

I earned two degrees: A Bachelor of Science in Business, and a Master's Degree in Systems Engineering, both from Regis University in Denver, Colorado. After 20+ years in my field, I became bored with network engineering and wanted to find something else exciting and challenging to learn --that's when I discovered the ancient art of knifemaking. I was hooked instantly and have enjoyed making knives ever since! Then...I had an idea: Why not combine my teaching and course-development skills with the art of knifemaking? The Knifemaker's Mastery Learning Platform and weekly Podcast was the result...as well as the term, "Knife Engineer" --a kind of mixture between systems engineer and knife maker!

I'm a strong believer in continuous learning and growth. My goal is to methodically teach the entire process of making a stock-removal full-tang knife by breaking it down into 15 distinct steps, where each step is mastered before you move on to the next. Then, I'll develop additional courses on advanced techniques and methods.

Thanks for visiting, hope to see you soon!
